Slingerland stage band rescue

Loading...

Well I am still short eight long tension rods for the floor tom

and the tom mounting hardware

also I have only one of the original Slingerland hoops

with about 70% of the black paint flaked off, but with all of the silver sparkle inlay still intact.

I need to repaint it and find another to match

Until then,I had this set of Japanese silver sparkle hoops hanging around to stand in for now

I am still going to try and clean the yellowed outer layer of the wrap

on the mounted and floor toms but if it turns out,

that they are what they are

I am still thinking it has been a fairly successful rescue

Many Thanks

to everyone who typed in with helpful info and suggestions

Sweet sweet sweeeet! If you get the discoloration out of the toms it's just icing on the cake for sure; very successful rescue. Whatever the issues with the wrap, it's original. In my book that's what counts.

Hey Mitch thanks a million

so now I need a nice logo head

for the resonant side of the bass drum

for a snare

I have a few c.o.b Krupas but I suppose they are not exactly correct

of course I would much rather

find the eight missing tension rods for the floor tom first and foremost

I split up the complete batter side eight rods

using four for each head just to have the floor tom look more complete for the pictures

Also I meant to mention, you should take a look at Eminent Destiny's "psych red downbeat" thread where he refers to a wetsanding process he uses to bring life back to the wrap. Maybe he'll educate you on it in PM....
