This is a follow-up to my rewrap post.
The Ray McKinley style tom mount on my 1964 Slingerland set has never been great, and over time it has become worse. The tom should hang on the top part of the mount, but the drum bracket is loose and slips to the middle. (All of my photo files were too large to post, and the drums are packed away right now.) To reduce rattle, I put a small piece of rubber between the "heel" of the mount and the drum. Can this be fixed? If not, are there any opinions on a better mount? I have seen a Gibraltar updated rail mount that would have some of the original appearance, and allow the use of a rim mount for possibly better resonance. This would probably require new holes and would be done in conjunction with a re-wrap. Since the set is of little vintage value, I am trying to improve its playability. Thanks.
