Well, the free solution worked. I tried tightening the rivets as suggested by 4MoreYearsOhNo and it did the trick. I was amazed by how soft the rivet metal was, but it just took a couple of taps from a ball peen hammer to tighten it up. Not sure how it got loose, because I am the only owner and it has not been hauled around that much or hit very hard. Thanks to all who posted.
We used to repair rivets on restaurant cookwarethe same way.... I did not want to suggest it, since I had never tried it on drum hardware before.
