Oh haha, I didn't even look at the price. But as Glenn says you will find it eventually...
Mitch
Well after some communication with the seller of that shell I think I made him nervous with my specific questions and he re-listed the thing an hour before the auction ended. I felt bad about this because he had a good description of the shell but just could not confirm it was maple under the wrap. I think I could have got it with no other bids, well at least I think so, you know how those last second bidders work. So now its gonna run another six days. Guess I will keep my eye on it again and will have time to think about it.

Emptied the box Tom. I did look at the add, Im sure he wants to sell the whole thing together but worth asking I guess. Then there is the whole shipping deal. I will send an email to him and see what happens. Thank you!
Nope, he wont ship. The hunt continues.
Thanks to all who kept an eye open for the floor tom shell! I finally gave up and wrapped the 16 with new maple veneer. So I hope to get these underway this weekend. I will post some pics for you once I get anything interesting to look at.
Looking forward to that....
Here are a few pictures for you.
Pic 1, compare newly veneered 16 to the other shells, pretty bright looking.
Pic 2, I sprayed some dye on the 16 and sanded it off to make it match the others a little better. I was hoping for better results but it should help. Did the same to the snare shell which is mahogany.
Pic, 3 All the shells with the dye. They look pretty uniform at this point. The dye is actually a deep red, tomorrow when I spray lacquer the color will pop big time. I will be mixing the dye into the level sealer that I use to fill in the grain, this will make the color even more uniform and cover up some of the ugly stuff. Should turn out to be a real deep apple red color.
Im gonna need some grommets, where is the best place to get them?
One coat of level sealer, tinted (.5oz of dye to 20oz of sealer). Not "rich" enough yet.
