Hi This has likely been asked before, so please excuse me for asking again. Why are Rogers (wood) Dynasonic's so expensive?60's Black Beauty's, 50's 1 ply Radio King's, 60's Spuraphonic's etc. sell for so much less.Even the cob dyna's are so much cheaper. I seen one ( wood dyna) at the Chicago show for over 2 grand. The hardware on a cob is the same, is the wooden shell worth over a grand + ? It's not like you don't ever see them on eBay. Confusing !!

Not that confusing actually .. because .. and this is the short answer, but accurate ... Rogers did NOT build all that many wood Dynasonics, and especially during the 60's decade which is the era everybody wants. I don't know what the exact ratio is, but to give you an idea: ONE wood Dynasonic for like every 500 COB models, or so. Then, when metal snare drums came into prominence, nobody wanted the wood Dynasonic! Rogers started including the COB version with all their drum sets. Fast forward 40 years or so, and now you have everyone WANTING a wood Dynasonic, except there aren't that many out there... thus, price goes up! I have two WMP models, a 1967 and a 1968, and I remember these were selling for close to $4000.00 each about ten years ago!, which is ridiculous, but that was the price. Prices have come down of course, but still hover at between $1500.00 and $2000.00 for a really nice one, with certain wraps demanding a tad more in certain cases.
