RK Ducos, Time capsule.

Very nice job! Man that cloud badge is one of the best I've ever seen. Looks brand new. PNW climate sure does suit things well. The crusty east coast out here is the opposite. My CB bass badge was a dark brown to the point you could barely read the type on it. On a quiet night you can hear the new cars starting to rust. :)

Thanks!

Funny how things go. Bought this snare before knew about the RK kit. Traveling so Glenn was kind enough to babysit till I got home. Great packing job!!

Here it is after a quick bath.

Thanks Creighton. That's a really nice one and very fun to play. Glad it made the trip out west ok. It's duco week for you!

So bought a bigger tumbler today. Two running should have this kit sorted in short order.

Got started on the bass drum. Had to play it a bit more first. The serious boom lasts for at least 3 seconds. Huge fun :-) Very good chance I'm the first one to take this drum apart since new. Treated to a very good Slingerland factory practices laugh. This drum ended up with 39 short lug screws one long screw and two extra washers. I'll put that back on. Little bit of almost birdseye on one re-ring. Everything tight and true. On to some pics.

Thanks John!

No. Was not any oil applied from the factory so none now. These are just getting a clean back to original as found condition. Interior of the shells just a wipe with a damp micro-fibre. Got rid of the mold bits starting to form. All that was needed. Just a killer set of drums. Not changing anything. Only cleaning and polishing. Doubt ever find another kit like this. Trying very hard to do a good job.

Some crappy pics of the interior of the shells. Snow/rain/cold here. Outside pics when possible.

Is that something written inside the snare shell @ 3:00 position? Stellar work my friend! Shells look so nice.

Yes there is. Can't make it out though. It starts with an S. Pencil strike marks survive for the strainer/badge placement points.

Thanks! getting there :-). Hoping for better weather to get decent pics.

Man...what a fantastic find and story! I would be a proud man to call that kit my own. Congrats! Can't wait to see the finished product.

Thanks ELM! Hope the nephew sticks with the drums so can pass them on.

So the hold things on parts have had a bath and tumble, bath time again. Cool the clamshell is Pats Pending. Super Lugs ready for more make shinny. Tone controls are going to take awhile. Grabbed a few tension rods out the tumbler. Another hour or so to go on those.
