What a great set of drums and story to go along with them. I can feel the mojo from here!

Yes, a really great find Creighton... And so much better that you have gathered the history of the kit.... They look terrific...

Cheers

John

Hi Mike,

Glad the mojo has made it your way. This kit is unlike any I've ever dealt with. Popped the busted head off the 13". Think it was original. The smell was a little bit cigar and just old. Hard to describe.

Glad to see wide re-rings. Anyone ever seen yellow tipped screws? Best I can tell they ran out of larger washers. But anything is possible.

Thanks all for any help getting the details sorted!

What a mighty find! and great story too...

That yellow reminds me of some sort of "reaction" or change occurring in the metal. Hopefully not. If I could help you identify anything I certainly would...:)

Hi Mitch,

I thought the same, but it is paint. Strange.

Glad to see your having a blast Creighton. I like that hook version of the clamshell. Super nice stuff here. Odd yellow screws too. The badges are in mint shape which is excellent! This one is right out of the history book and Slingerland catalog too! :)

Thanks Glenn!

Well first layer of grime off. Incorrect, missing, broken bits noted. Work area cleared, it is a detailing I go. Interesting to compare the Big Brass Badge snare to the Duco. Very shallow snare beds. The calf head on the Duco and a 13" NOB snare have snare beds cut into the snare side hoop. Hope someone is making those. No surprise modern mylar heads don't work.

Only found one catalog pic that was close. My apologies to whoever I stole it from.

Fun yes! Whole bunch of work to mend these. Could be worse. Pics posted when something worth posting occurs :-)
