Can you clarify what you mean ? Removing wrap ??? Their wraps are/were often taped on, which makes it harder....
...of course...i want to be able to paint the drum....i want to remove the wrap...some cheaper japaneese drums are taped..these are glued...guitar3

If they are glued, then remove them with a bit more care, so as not to damage the shell. You will have to go SLOW.
Sorry, but it's kinda tough to get a handle on what you need here. If this doesn't answer your question ... I'm tapping out.
..thanx..that confirms my suspision...DOH
Hi,
What finish has it right now?
From time to time there are some freaks here who wonna repair their shells with pieces of the original finish (which is nowadays impossible to find). Especially the metallic wraps are needed desparately partly.
So, please, kindly keep the rest in stock for such queries.
Thank you!
Ralf
(NB: ... not for me. I don't intend to do that.)
..standard black....kind of glossy...FYI

... then just put it in the garbage.:D
......x-mas1...LOl yea.
Hey Ronnie, post a pic of the drum so we can see what is happening. For TAMA, you should try first to gently lift at the seams. If it is an old drum, the wrap may come off very easily. However, if you wish to paint, you MUST sand off all glue residue, or the paint job will suck.....period. Unless you are doing something like a black or solid colored lacquer, leaving the wood grain exposed is tricky business once the wrap comes off most drums. You may find though, that the wrap is only secured in a couple of places and that is a good thing for refinishing as there is so much less residue to deal with.
