I have never wrapped a drum but I plan on it when I find a piece of RTP wrap. Anyways, I have an idea for a jig I will use when I finally do this:
Piece of plywood laying flat.
2- 2x4's clamped parallell to each other 1/32" larger than the width of the drum I am wrapping. These 2x4's are clamped to the plywood.
I will use metal stripping from work, and usee the 2/4's to hold two pieces of this metal stripping down, perfectly where I wish the wrap to be on the drum. The stripping will be a bit thinner than the wrap, and will be inside of the 2/4's to create a seperate, tad-bit smaller, channel for the wrap to lay in.
Dry wrap the drum to fit for perfect length.
Once the length is good, lay the wrap inside the two pieces of material half the thickness of the wrap, apply glue and roll the shell right over the jig.
Anyways, this is pretty much how I plan on wrapping my snare when I get the red tiger pearl wrap someday!
