Mike,

Flat rate Priority boxes are a great way to ship. The prices are very reasonable too. With that being said, the price they agree to is the price they agreed to pay.

I had an instance where an international customer bought an item and then decided to "change" the way I had listed it to be shipped. I have revised my auction listings many times due to buyers that feel the need to not hold up to the agreement on eBay.

I will work with someone with multiple items, but all my shipping rules are laid out beforehand, if you can't follow them, don't buy from me, I don't want the headaches.

BTW, did you get the tom mount okay?

My 2 cents,

When I see the shipping cost, I assume that's what I'd have to pay unless it was negotiated with the seller first. Alot of times the cheaper starting price is offset with the shipping cost they ask because they want that minimum price. Of couse it can't be too rediculous.

I don't like the Flat Rate boxes............

They are paper thin to start with..........

if you line then with strong cardboard, you have even less room inside.

I try to allow 2"-3" extra room in ALL direction for protection.

Using FR boxes, that doesn't leave much room afterwards.......

I feel they charge you even more then normal for them also.....

I had a guy send me a Splash cymbal in one,and it was almost $12.00

If I used my own box, could have shipped it for less,I am sure..........

Now,I got smart to using the Postal Service.......

I use my own strong boxes, and don't put Priority stickers on them.

I take it in,ask how much for Parcel Post and how much for Priority.........

Sometimes,it is only 75 cents more for Priority,so I say to go with that.

They take their Priority sticky tape out then, wrap it around a few times.........done........

It sounds like you're doing a good job Blair.

Yes - I don't know why someone would say they accept the charges and then back out of the deal...that doesn't seem right .....for a few bucks here and there. I would rather have my little treasure arrive undamaged. You should have seen how I wrapped my three cymbals that are now on the way to Poland = bubble wrap/paper/sytro corners/bags/sturdy cardboard and about one roll of that heavy duty packing tape! If they're damaged - the handlers are playing football with that parcel lol.

You know how to wrap a package - you know how you'd like it - you're not going to take a chance on something getting broken just to save a buck-r-two.....that's good. And I'm with you!

But, there are some things that are okay to put in a bubble envelop....right?

HELP!!!! What to do about this A**Hole..Ok guy's my last email to him goes like this....Hello,As my listing state's the shipping of 9.60 1st class with tracking number. This is what the shipping cost is.Ia'm fair on the shipping cost,my cost is about 7.50+80 cent's-[for tracking number}-Total is about 8.50-9.00..My listing state's the cost at 9.60 for shipping and handleing..The way Ebay work's the bidder does not tell the seller the shipping cost..Please pay..Thanks....His email back to me goes like this...The 4.95 box is all you pay at the post office.box is free and you just put the item's in a zip lock bag, place them in the box and leave it.If u don't know about this service go to U.S.P.S website.Again it's no big deal, but you should not charge double for shipping for a simple part's assortment.Ia'm a Ebay watchdog for shipping overcharges and I'll have to report you you unless you adjust invoice.Thanks.......So guy's what would you do? send the part's to him like he wants them to be sent?..Don't sell to him at all to avoid any problem's with the guy? Take it to Ebay and report Him?....I don't want to put his ebay I.D. on this forum right now but if you email me i will let any forum member's know ,all i will say his in TX.....Mikey...PS. the part's are two Ludwig 70's spur mounts and one Ludwig L-arm cymbal mount...

I'd tell him to take it or leave it. Tell him you will not ship without insurance and tracking. You take the time to package things so they arrive intact and without damage. He can take a chance with his stuff all he wants, but until it is in his hands, the parts are still yours. That's why the seller has to submit a claim with UPS or Fedex, The buyer does not own it until he accepts the package...

I'd report him, saying he is trying to "bully" you into shipping things against your own practices..

On a side not, will the L-arm cymbal holder even fit into the biggest priority box? And the biggest box is not $4.95, that is the starting rate for priority...

Why do you waver? You know you're correct and that this is not a time for grace. You have been ethical and upfront. There is no hesitation necessary. Report the mook and post his name here. Do not succumb to his feeble bantering. He's being a jerk and does not deserve the energy you've given him. He either pays or he doesn't. If he does, he's still already been reported. If he doesn't, then he gets two strikes; one for his initial bullying report and one for non-payment.

This is cut and dry.

Call his bluff Mike, start a non-paying bidder and also save a copy of the email he sent you claiming to be a watchdog. Even if he is, the shipping you listed is what he agreed to. Ship it that way if he pays. If you were to ship it Priority, but still charge him what was originally quoted, that's not a wrong thing either. The buyer agreed to your charges, so you don't have to explain anything or change for him.

Call his bluff, he may end up not buying the product, but he's certainly not legally right in breaking a written agreement.
