Hmmm....sounds vaguely familiar to me........yes, that's been my experience in the past here too.....hence my laying low for quite some time.

I brought 50+ years of experience in drum-land to the table when I first came here. Some guys have appreciated what I have had to offer and a few here and there didn't. Not being in high school any more it doesn't much matter to me who 'likes me' and who doesn't. My old man once told me, 'Son, there's -always- a joker in the deck!' So it doesn't make any sense to allow people who have nothing better to do in life than troll others to spoil your experience here, or to stop you from participating.

In the years I've been posting here I have actually said just about everything I have to say at least twice. I still like to chime in once in awhile, but I'm not much for repeating myself. I'm not much for repeating myself. I'm not much for repeating myself. :p

Well, hell, I may as well chime in!

Still crazy about vintage drums, but my thing these days is mostly hardware. It's cheaper, and keeps me busy.

All the great vintage drums and cymbals were sold a bit ago. But I've kept enough bits and pieces to put together a kit. Looks ... dubious. Sounds okay!

Good day gentlemen long time lurker just joined recently well I have been playing professionally since 1966 I'm 63.now I have been collecting vintage drums for some time here locally in deep south Texas I still have my first Ludwig drumkit a champagne sparkle holly wood kit that my mother bought me in 1969.used I rotate my four vintage kitson a regular basis I do have a modern kit which I took to a gig recently I got some flak from the guys and the sound man they said don't bring it no more I asked why not they said no mojo on sound so I'll keep using my old kits there goes two grand oh well it will make a good practice kit that just gave me a good excuse to keep on hunting for more vintage kits. Hehehe

Years. Sort of the self proclaimed “Yamaha Guy” although I certainly don’t know everything.

No time to play these days so I e slowed down my buying. I am always looking for EAKs and a few key drums (Yamaha of course).

On other forums I visit I have noticed a poising of the waters by the “entitled” generation. I’m happy to help anyone but I e been using the “ignore member” option a lot these days. I don’t need the aggravation.

Hey All! 54 years young here! Been under the radar for quite a while... got divorced, moved to Florida from PA, got a great job, got married, now back on track! Still looking for WWII drums and parts. Ludwig, Leedy, WFL, Gretsch, Slingerland.

So cool to see so many guys who have helped me research and restore so many drums posting on one thread. I myself have almost completed my collection other than a few pieces to complete a set or two. I finally had a custom shelf built in my home studio and told myself once it's full your done! ....and well it's full. I still pop on a couple times a week to see what is going on.

I realize the point of this thread was to coax out veteran VDF members that have gone silent, I'm kinda opposite of that...I'm relatively new to the forum and I can't seem to shut up, but I am an "old guy" (52), so I'm chiming in anyway...

I just want to say that I have found the members on the VDF to be an extremely helpful and cordial bunch. Not only have I gotten an accelerated education about vintage drums that would have been impossible without the VDF, the real gift has been the tips, advice, and motivation that have helped me to restore a few old kits that are now among my favorite worldly possessions, and give me real joy on a daily basis. For all this, I thank you!Bowing

I agree with Mr Toast and for the very same reasons; I am also a newbie but found the VDF members friendly, helpful and a fountain of knowledge. Glad I am part of this forum!

Just turned 49 a couple of weeks ago. Still here. Still buying and selling. It is way harder now than it used be but heck, It is what it is. I've met incredible people here. John Velez , Lynn Smith, etc, etc...Moved to Oregon from LA a couple of weeks ago. Bought land with a shop where Ill finally display my 70 sets...One of this days...When I finish cleaning my way too big of a shop...
