It has a great stick sound. Too bad you made it thinner and wobbly. Not good for me. I would have wanted it heavy.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

The "proven weight loss program" seems to do quite the job! That is an awesome cymbal!

Love it! Looks and sounds great. I'm all for this kind of thing (not too much of a purist). I just picked up a relathed + hammered by Matt Bettis 60's A, which is gorgeous. Just the sound I was looking for... and looks killer!

Nice! So I could have had a 22'' vintage A lightened and re-hammered? What's that usually cost to do Matt? Thanks

Found it!!

I for one applaud this approach for this particular cymbal. At 2900 grams, only two bidders and a winning bid of under $900, it seems to me that the usual buyer for a 22" Old K was not interested. In the hands of a qualified craftsman it has been re-born as a more viable instrument with a much wider audience. I'll be interested to see how the modifications impact it's perceived market value. Has Matt created a new niche for unloved, overweight Old K's?

Beautiful sound! I might actually prefer it to some of the more dark, pingy old Ks.

66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I think what really killed the first auction were the casting flaws that looked a lot like cracks. Nobody was willing to take a chance on that, and I don't blame them one bit.

I guess the market has spoken. Somebody hit the Buy it Now for $1650 in her restomodded state.

Thanks,

Matt

So was your decision to lath it based more on removing the casting flaws than reducing it's weight?
