What he is trying to say is that when Ludwig put on the wrap, they had a 2" overlap of wrap - it wasnt butted edge to edge, but laid on top of itself. Therefore when the wrap shrunk an inch, there is a 1" portion of wrap that is still covered by the wrap and a 1" portion exposed with brown glue.

Every drum has this issue, 4 total. Thanks bigshawn, that's exactly it. The bottom seam is loose too so I need to glue that first - seems like a big job maybe I need to visit a pro like Precision Drums?
