Noble And Cooley

Loading...

Hi -

does anyone have any experience with Noble and Cooley drums? There are a few used 5 piece kits available in my area for about $1,500 - snare included. I know they're supposedly high end drums and of course their web site states, like ALL other drum company web sites, that WE MAKE THE FINEST DRUMS IN THE WORLD. Just wondering if anyone has owned/played these kits. Thanks so much.

I have a friend/drummer in Arizona who owns/plays an ebony-black (I think it's called, Piano Black,) Noble & Cooley kit. He swears by them. Says they are the best built and sounding drums he's ever owned. I have no personal experience with them, but everything I've heard is always positive in terms of the quality of the drums.

I do know that they hold their price well in the marketplace. A Rolls Royce is a Rolls Royce.

Too many great drums to list here!

The (now closed) drum shop where I got my RC kit also sold Noble and Cooley so I have seen and played them a bit.

The snare drums are outstanding- and as stated, hold value very well... because they sound great and are in demand. Good sensitivity too.

Complete kits, though not as rare as complete Montineri kits, are more rare.

And from experience, the bass drums are unbelievable!

I believe they were all Keller shelled and all maple- no re-rings either as I recall.

Snares can go for what you are seeing kits for, so you can't really go wrong. (and I wouldn't mind one of these snares at all myself!)

I would call them "the underground DW": great quality and sound, without the huge ad campaign.

I play on my friend's 10/12/14/18 quite regularly. It sounds good. I mean, I've played on nicer kits, but it definitely ranks in the top 15-20%. Perhaps if it were mine, and I put on my own heads with my own tuning, it might be stellar. Definitely high quality for a straight-sided ply kit...

I've got a N & C snare. I think it's a fantastic snare, and I paid a good bit for it. If you can grab a kit for $1500 that's a golden opportunity and I would snag it immediately if it's in good shape.

Good luck.

Were and still are! The Horizon Series was not all maple, but the CD series is. If it is an older Star Series kit that was steam bent single ply shells bent here at the factory.

If you want to PM me the specs I can tell you what it would go for new, just so you have an idea of the deal you'd be getting.....

Thanks for all the other kind words guys!

Hey Nick- do you guys allow/have tours of the facility there?

I used to be a photographer for Land Rover Monthly and could do some nice photos (with your permission) to share here with all the guys (and girls).

I'm in North Haven CT but get out all around New England as far north as Biddeford, ME.

Let me know! I bet a few people would be interested in the pictures!
