That late 20's Slingerland with the three lines is a rare bird!

thank you fine gents.

had a talk with the seller this morning. the Ludwig dance seems to be fairly nice. it is in round and in good condition. missing the obvious original heads and wires.. looks like a few tension rods too. how hard would these things be to find and around how much would they run? if I get it id like to know what its supposed to sound like instead of what it sounds like modernized.

the sling is in round too and aside from needing cleaned and heads looks to be in ok shape.. I think? Chicago Dave, could you make another piece? I would be interested if so.

should either of these have engraved hoops? ive seen them on a few of the old Ludwig snares from around this era. but like I said im a bit out of my range of knowledge here and id rather not leave anything out if I can keep from it.

The Slingerland might have a stamp on the shell. Can you post some good photos? Kind of hard to tell.

when the Ludwig marking was on the shell like that one, the hoops were not marked, that I have seen.

My first "info on these old ludwig snares" that came to mind - with that first pic - was that poor old Valuable snare should not be sitting on its reso head like that. Then came the second pic - worse yet, on its wires!!

OUCH!

Hope these are the seller's pics - hope it was not on the stool for long!

Looks like a gem to be had....couple of them.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

the previous pics were not mine. i just got a chance to make the drive for them today.

apparently the sling and the case/fixins have spent a life time together. i went for the Ludwig. but ive fallen hard for this sling and the story it conveys. would certainly love to see some educated guesses as to what its actually worth and how to go about polishing it up.

i know what it all is, i just don't have a clue about the value of any of it. just kind of bought the stuff cause it spoke to me. and its always a good thing to find out how good/bad you did in that situation.
