I haven't seen too many of those.I picked these up yesterday along with some other cool drums and cymbals....Generic MIJ stencil kit, and i have no idea who made it but i love it...I guess that it was their version of psychedelic red.
MIJ Wrap Finishes-Let's Rank 'Em-Popular To Rare
Another super cool MIJ wrap! Makes the US company offerings seem pretty boring in comparison.

Very cool. I'm guessing that's a re-wrap though for Jammin' Sam or Bum Wraps though. Probably not original if I had to bet.
I picked up another cool MIJ kit recently, 60's Raven Club Date set: 20/14/12. I dig the wrap, a lot. Anyone know the correct name for this wrap?Cheers.
That's a very nice score. I believe that's called "Tiger Eye Pearl" or more commonly known as "Root Beer Pearl".
Almost all of those MIJ "Club Date" style kits did not have the matching floor tom. Pretty sweet that yours does. Enjoy them

Thanks! Ironically, I scored another MIJ Club Date kit yesterday; 20/12/14/14. I showed pictures of it to one of my MIJ Facebook groups, before buying it. It's called a "Extra Play Brand Super", from 1967. The consensus is that its Pearl made, it's fairly identical to the Pearl Valencia model. I now have three MIJ kits that are 20/12/14 (two of them have matching snares as well). Lucky, I guess.
Cheers.

Looks like a non Star Hoshino kit, from what I see of the hardware. You may want to give the bearing edges a look. As far as the wrap, I think that is original. Some of the MIJ Psychedelic Wraps were far more to the red side than Ludwig's. I also don't recall jammin Sam or any others making a color like that. Sparkles,glitter,WMP,BDP,etc.. yes. But not something as unique as that.
Not a Guru, just addicted to drums

Yes for sure the wrap is original and it is faded to perfection on one side of the tom and the left side of the BD which tells me that it sat beside a window for a bunch of years.

Nice one and and because the pictures were taken with the flash on makes it look even sweeter. :)
My Stewart set I found a couple years ago. Used it on several jazz gigs. They really sound good.
