From Mr.Toast

Trilok,That Star kit is bad a$$! Trades, especially ones like that, are even sweeter than a bargain price cash purchase. I'm sure Ralf will want a pic of it for his site when it's all done.Happy Thanksgiving,AL

Thanks Al, I lucked out. Once I have them fixed up a bit, I'll do some proper pictures, and send to Ralf, for sure.

Cheers, and Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.

Hello again!

I'm enjoying this thread. One of the cool things about MIJ kit's is the varied finishes. Here's another cool, and rare one...I can't recall the proper name for it, so if you know, please pass it on.

I acquired this Coronet snare this past summer, when I bought my vintage Baxter kit, the seller included it in the deal. It needs a good cleaning, I have it dissembled now. Shell is good, wrap is tight, grey interior, so sealed up. I'll be sure to post an 'after' picture.

Cheers.

Nice... pretty close match to 'red grain pearl' from early 70s Pearl catalogs.

Wanted: Pearl President floor tom in Golden Grain wrap and rack tom in Tiger Eye (root beer) wrap.

Hey Kenwood

I just picked up the same funky wrap Del Ray that you got. I remembered seeing yours and ogeling over it. Definately one of the more rare finishes I have ever seen, actually only the second one I have ever seen behind yours. Will arrive in a week, can't wait!

I picked up another cool MIJ kit recently, 60's Raven Club Date set: 20/14/12. I dig the wrap, a lot. Anyone know the correct name for this wrap?

Cheers.

I love this MIJ wrap!! I once had a chance to purchase a set in this wrap, but, it needed work and the seller was asking too much IMO...

Cheers

It is Red Grain Pearl. I have a full set of Tempros in this finish.

The proper name of these two Star used finishes escapes me

They resemble at a glance both black diamond pearl

and red marine pearl respectively

but yet are not quite either one

does anyone have a catalog page with them shown ??
