After I paint the hoops I will install the inlays. I get my contact adhesive out and a small 1/4" paint brush. I dont want to tape my newly painted hoops off. I am going to lay my new inlay out on the table upside down and sand it slightly with 150 grit sandpaper, to ruff up the finish on the back of the wrap to help the glue to adhere. Contact adhesive sticks best when you apply it to both surfaces, let them dry till tacky, then stick it down. Then it is a stuck mutha. I Paint the back of the inlay 1st to let the glue dry a while. I paint 1/4" of glue down the center of the back of the inlay, then 1/4" glue down the center of the indention on the hoop. The inlays came in 2 pieces. I stuck the longest piece, the stick the shorter piece, over lapping about a inch or so. The inlay strips had double stick tape on each end. Don’t forget to peel the clear protective outter layer off of the end of the inlay before you over lap it. Once it sticks it sticks, so I plan to stick it right the 1st time. Then I will staple it as original. Thats my plan, and I'm "STICKIN'" to it! LoLoLoLoL

When I get the snare I will wrap it to match my Black Panters. Then my kit will be complete. Stay Tuned, I'll be back with the snare wrap as soon as I get my vinyl and snare. its gonna be fabulous y'all!

Nice! When I've repainted other Ludwig wood hoops before, I just used gloss black spray paint, but your vinyl dye seemed to work just as well. So those replacement inlays were from Jamminsam? I have some Ludwig hoops that need new inlays. Cool you can order just that from them.

Looking forward to the snare next!

Ok Y'all I got my cheap ludwig CS Accent 6X14 8 bowtie lug snare and my Black Panther matching vinyl. I stained the inside of the snare shell and put a few coats of clear, and I wraped the snare, got it all back together and It looks pretty good. I replaced the snare throw and butt plate with a P85, I replaced the lug screws with vintage ones. This snare certainly isnt, and Im not trying to pass it off as original. I just did this to display it in my drum room. Just for aesthetic reasons. here it is:

So sweet !! ....

I'm not sure if I was a fan of Black Panther before, but I sure am now!

Thanks for taking us through the process, I learned a lot!!

When it's time to clean, what product would be best to keep that wrap looking A+ like you have it now?

Thanks Poppy
