Wow guys, what a great community! The internet can be a cold, dark place. I am happy to find this gem of a site. Thank you for the warm welcome.
I think I'll keep the finish the way it is, I really love the wood look, but just in case I change my mind: How does wrapping affect the sound? I'm digging the sound of these drums right now, wouldn't want to hurt anything. And is wrapping something I should try on my own?
Here are some more detailed looks at the port hole and mount holes in the tom tom. What's that red stuff?
Grabbing Creighton's mount looks like a good option. Seems like the harm has been done, might as well embrace it. I could attach the tom and use the other arm for a cowbell or something like that.
Another Question: what kind of snare should i be looking for to 'match' this kit? The guy I purchased this from gave me a pearl brass piccolo snare, it actually sounds pretty cool, but I feel like this kit needs a wood snare. I've been perusing local kijiji/craigslist ads for a slingerland wood snare, they are not a popular item. I'd be worried about buying something from ebay...seems to me it is important to acutally hear the drum you are buying. Any recommendations? I live in Hamilton, Ontario if that makes a difference.
Thank you all!
