How to ship a 22" ride??

Loading...

Hello,

I need to ship a 22" ride. Can anyone suggest:

> what kind of box

> where to get a box

> best packing material

> and any other tips?

I tried searching on Google and on this forum, but I just can't seem to string together the right search words to get the information.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Get a moving box or two from Lowes, plus bubble wrap and foam pipe insulation. Put the pipe insulation around the edge. Build the box to the size yuou need adding two inches all around. Wrap wrap wrap it in bubble wrap.

I know this is a stupid question but when you say build the size of box you need, do you mean that you cut a big box down to size and then tape the flaps back on with duct tape or something? Or do you tape panels of cardboard together to make a box?

ask guitar center for a cymbal box

they are usually 26x26x6

24x24x6 even better will save you shipping cost

make a cardboard sleeve (bigger than cymbal but not bigger than box) then

bubble wrap around cymbal 3 or 4 times

insure it

box should look like this

im sure you can get one from staples

when i buy cymbals i keep the boxes

Great suggestions so far.

Places that sell moving boxes, also have boxes for shipping artwork. They're usually thick enough to get plenty packing material in there as well. FedEx Home Delivery is usually pretty cheap, and they'll treat the package the best.

I've done this before and it works great, but it's just a suggestion.

Good luck.

I don't have photos, but the way I do it is I wrap the cymbal in 2 strips of cardboard completely around the cymbal forming a plus or X, whichever way you see. I've used a pizza box, but I've taped the cymbal down to the box with my cardboard I wrapped it with as a point for the tape to lay on. I then fill the "pizza box" with foam peanuts past the top about an inch then close the box, or if using anything different that a pizza box, fold the top panels and seal it. Guaranteed that cymbal ain't getting damaged. I make my own boxes too out of flat cardboard pieces if I need to also.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....
