Jeff, that tumbler purchase is definitely in my future when funds allow. My Wife has saved me a page from the Harbor Freight catalog. Yes, will be glad to share pics now that I figured how to resize my photos so they upload...By coincidence, my retired pal stopped by last night with the sanded "test" shell (12" tom) and had questions before spraying. He could not distinguish between the re-rings and the bearing edge. I presume from other posts, NO poly on the bearing edges....This is sanding down to 220 grit.As soon as the "test spraying" is complete, I'll post more pics. dean
Here's the 12 inch shell back from the cabinet maker- 3 coats poly with sanding in between. There were some fairly deep dents from serious gigging so my cabinet guy was leery of sanding too hard, so despite some minor imperfections in the shell, I think we're looking pretty good!
Next step is the purchase of rims and a resonant head, when money allows.
When completed, the 12 inch tom will go for sale here on the forum. Getting sprayed next is the 13 inch tom that I'm keeping for the rehab project. Picture also shows bare sanded shell for comparison.
Talk to me, guys. This is one tough first time project for a novice like me. Thanks. d
