Finally pulled the trigger: 60's Walberg & Auge kit

Loading...

After staring at this kit for about a year on Reverb I finally said F it & made an offer. It was accepted and I'm pretty excited :)

I've done some reading on W&A and from what I've seen & been told these are really cool hybrid kits. I'm not concerned about everything matching or resale as there is something about this set and the sparkling pearl that really called to me! I'm so looking forward to playing & gigging with this kit. Have to ask the experts here what they think of this set & what I have to look forward to as this is my first W&A set. Thanks all.

Tune em low, hit the gas and go! That's going to be a killer gig kit. The finish will reflect whatever color stage lights are being used so it'll make a great looking kit. W&A are, bar none, some of the best made drums I ever encountered. They built them like Sherman tanks... built to last forever. Enjoy them buddy. You scored a great set of drums.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

You did great! I saw this kit and was ogling over it. I am sure you will enjoy it. Like Purdie, ok, not quite like him cause he has Big Blue.... I have about 6 of the W&A snares dating all the way back to the 16 lug days and they are some of my favorites!

Enjoy and play it like it deserves.

Michael

Love 'em Mark. Really dig the color. You're going to really like that floor tom I think. Enjoy!

Although I was raised not too far from their facility in Worcester, MA, I've never had the pleasure of owning a W&A. It seems they offered a bargain price by using whatever overstock the various major drum builders sold them. I've seen them with parts from just about every other company, and of course, they build rail mounts for those manufacturers and other hardware. Cool kit Mark. Enjoy it. Did you get it from Wood & Weather? He's not too, too far from Worcester either.

What a very lovely looking drum set you have!

Vintage W&A kits today are getting higher higher interest on the collector charts... especially odd ones and will probably go even higher as time passes.

What, I like most about them is the uniqueness of each kit. They say not two kits are alike... but nonetheless you have yourself one cool looking drum set so take good care of it.

I'm very curious about the dates inside each shell... so can you please post them whenever you are ready to?

For the past few years, I've been slowly rebuilding a original March-1965 W&A 18/12/14 bop kit... hopefully I'll be finished this year with it... fyi: trying to find original W&A "Profection" parts can be a real challenge... especially the badges which are extremely rare.

Very pretty and interesting set. I like the matching sparkle initials on the bass head. Looks like an interesting size combination also... 13 and 14" mounted toms, 14x16" FT and 20" bass? With the single-flanged hoops and Gretsch Rocket lugs on the FT, I'm guessing the FT was an older orphan added to the rest of the set.

Congrats. You made a great decision and purchase.
