What did they call that sparkle finish?

Turquoise Sparkle is what I was told but I'm open to any knowledge passed this way!

Seems like Howie had a set of W&A's in this color or close to it. Maybe he will chime in. Apologies if he already has.

Anyone have any idea as to what the wrap may have been called?

I just now saw this thread. Mike is correct. I had a 1972 W&A Perfection set that I sold when I downsized my collection. I called the wrap Ice Blue Metallic because it looks like that classic Fender guitar finish. This beautiful set had the matching snare drum. The configuration is 14x22-two 9x13-16x16, matching snare. I have kept my 1963 Perfection Gold Glass Glitter set configured 14x22, 9x13, 16 deep x 14 diameter. I have an almost matching Champagne sparkle W&A snare drum for this set. Then, I finally got tired of the beat to snot Salmon Satin Flame wrap on my other 1966 W&A keeper set configured a la Rogers 14x20, 8x12, 16x16. I had Bum Wraps custom make some green/silver/green Duco-looking wrap. I usually put a Rogers 60's Chrome Powertone snare with these drums. And, I also have a 1963 Pefection Purple Diamond Pearl snare drum for the slobber and drool factor.

So far my research has not turned up any other W&A kits in this wrap but I feel that is a good discription of the wrap "Ice Blue Metallic Sparkle". I have not taken the drums apart yet as tradition is to do the first gig "as is" and the original weather king ambassadors have tuned up pretty decent. So I am enjoying them as I received them for now. I have seen the RGB initials inside the 2 toms & bass drum with a build date of July 1960 which means "Built to 'Perfection' by Robert George Bernard (RGB) in July 1960" Have not looked into FT yet.

Once I do the gig, they will be cleaned up really nice & new heads put on & will post up some pics. They arrived in amazing shape. NO issues. They just need a good cleaning. Perhaps the very first one. I was also told it's a good possibility these drums never even left the state of MA as they were found in a local storage facility where they sat for who knows how long not too far from where they were actually built. All cleaned up & did not take much to bring the beauties back.

The drums are all signed "RGB July 1960" inside the 2 toms & bass drum with a build date of July 1960 which means "Built to 'Perfection' by Robert George Bernard (RGB) in July 1960"

FT has the black painted interior. No signature I saw. I was told the shell is older but wrapped at the same time as the other drums hence why they all look the same beautiful ice blue sparkle.

How do they sound?

Warm & fat & great projection. The choosing between the 9x13 & 10x14 is a wonderful dilemma. I even found the matching dress for the vocalist (aka wife) in time for the first gig. Lots of compliments on the drums too which was great. VERY happy with this kit & glad I finally pulled the trigger!
