A true WTF moment if there ever was one!

Yes, Vinnie Paul is great. I still get goosebumps listening to the outro solo on the song "Becoming" off of the Far Beyond Driven album.

Another heavy metal drummer to check out is Matt Byrne from Hatebreed. He is phenominal, and just an all around cool guy. I took 2 lessons from him, and it was so worth the $100 and the 8 hour round trip drives (he lives about 2 hrs south of me).

And there is also a guy named Darren Cesca. Darren is more of a death metal/grind drummer, but some things he does behind a kit is completely ridiculous. He is the only drummer I have ever heard of being kicked out of a band for being "too good." (kicked out of the band Arsis after the "We Are The Nightmare" album) Bowing

Another drummer to check out is "Lord Marco" The first video I saw of this guy floored me.I have never seen someone do what this guy can do on an electric drum kit. Absolutely amazing.

And ive read all of the standards are already mentioned(ie. Bozzio, Lang, Phillips, Beauford, Donati, Appice, etc...) except for Billy Cobham. But that may be more of a personal preference.

Boy, there are just too many good drummers that I like. Different genres that I don't even know how to play. Take Gavin Harrison for instance. I don't even listen to the music he does, but I ran across some of his stuff on another site that I really enjoyed.

Most drummers today are lost in just technique and whistles and bells drumsets. Here is a young drummer who can still really groove.
