Loading...

mr roger taylor of queen. not as technical as neil peart and co, but a grea drummer, and a great soloist. check out his timpani solo.

also, check out mike mangini. check you tube for him, the one with steve vai is frickin' awesome.

another drummer i came across on good old you tube is dylan elise. the video of him when he was only 16 just blows my mind!!!

ian paice with deep purple and the london philharmonic is another fine solo.

like others have said, too many to try and list. just watch as many as you can, it's great!! Clapping Happy2 D' Drummer

happy viewing!!!

One of my favourites is Simon Kirke from Free / Bad Company. He has that simple approach, but has great chops.

I also enjoy the sounds of Shannon Larkin of Godsmack... Live version of "Keep Away" ~ absolutely incredible.

These are only a couple.. I could go on, and on, and on.

Cheers

Shannon larkin. Good shout. Great drummer. I got into his drumming when I got ugly kid joes second album, menace to sobriety. And then their third, motel california. I got to meet him in the early 90's, they played at the tivoli in buckley, north wales. My crowd surfing ended up with me on the stage, so I asked shannon for a stick, so he gave me one. Lovely. If you don't ask, you don't get. :-P. He also played the opening track on stone sours' second album, come whatever may.

I met Rob Merrill (4 string thing player) of Godsmack on the IV tour. I had just missed Shannon going into the venue.

Another couple of my favourite drummers would be Sean Kinney of AIC and Mr.Vinny Appice of Dio / Black Sabbath. These 2 fellows make heavy metal drumming look easy!

Cheers

Another big influence on me was michael lee. I saw little angels supporting marillion in 1988. Awesome drummer. He went on to play with page and plant, the cult, and the last thing he did was thin lizzy. He sadly passed away 2 years ago. Talking of heavy metal drummers, vinnie paul of pantera. And also brian tichy.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
