I don't do favorites but this is the first song that came to mind when I read the question:

I currently have this, and many other early 80's Rush tunes, both live and studio, on my Sony USB Walkman playlist, but i chose this tune, as it's one of my favorites. The sound he gets from his 24x14 Superstar kick drum is perfect. Punchy, boomy and tight. He had a porthole on his kick for live gigs but always had it at the top, as opposed to the bottom of the reso head, which i think makes a huge difference, in that the air flowing through the bass drum resonates more from the top than it would if it were cut from the bottom. I can only describe it as a blasting side kick on a punching bag from former UFC champ, Georges St. Pierre. I personally think that it's Peart's best drum sound ever, more so than his Slingerland, Ludwig and DW drum sounds..That Tama Superstar was a beast !

cheers,

Rob
