here's the edge on the 8" cow that arrived here today from Kevins.. before I put her back together..
Tom,my Milano Music drum dept guy, thanked me and alllll the other vintage drum buffs for years and years of steady income recutting dissatisfactory-factory shells.But he commented that GRETCH brought in the most money! I had him cut the 8 and recut a 10 concert tom with modern edges.Really just something to let the heads resonate.BTW, I dremmeled off 1/8 inch of the wrap befor the recut.

I hope that worked well. I am sure you are much happier with the sound? And you still have the original wrap tight and in place. Very Cool!
Well,only $30 to do both shells with a sharp 45 edge, BUT sadly there is little difference in tone or sustain?
