Current projects in the works

From CT Pro Percussion

I am starting this thread to document a few of the ongoing projects that I am working on that are a little outside of the box. There will be full photo journals on my facebook page with this thread showing some of the highlights for those here who don't do Facebook. This is the first peek at one of two rope tensio drums that I am working that will be a little outside of the norm. Hope you enjoy this first picture. More to follow on both drums progress this week. This one will have as much bite as it does bark!!!By ct_pro_percussio at 2012-07-30The drum that will be going with these hoops is a 26" Pearl marching bass drum that had been stripped down because the finish was just done from years of public school abuse. The shell is in great condition and has been stained a dark ebony stain on both the shell and rims. Shell paint and ears on this drum will be completely custom. Good stuff Matt~! Keep it going and good to see your busy!

BTW I tried a few times to say hello at the CT show but your booth was 3-5 deep every time I walked by. That's a good thing. Some really beautiful gear you had there too. That painted bass head looked beautiful in person. As did the WMP Leedy kit it was on.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Sorry for being off the board for so long but I have recently had to relocate my base of operations and my home and the move has caused more problems than I had anticipated including having my email blocked and my computer crashing. I should have more updates on some of the drums I have been working on (I have finished several and am much closer to finishing several more) very soon.

Sorry you couldn't get closer to me at the booth, hopefully we can meet in person at the next one.

Okay, it's been a long time but I can finally can some updated pictures posted.

Here is one of the finished Footguard snare drums that I was working on earlier this year.

And here is the finished bass drum. The head was done by the folks at Neckbone Graphics.

And here is a picture of the guys from the Footguard with two of the snares and the bass drum in uniform before showing them off for the first time this year at the Big E

Thank you to Mike and the Footguard for the opportunity to do these for you.

The unknown red snare has been started along with numerous other projects and here is what I have done so far.

The paint has been stripped and the shell was tongue oiled and lacquered.

The shell has been prepped for some artwork.

In addition to the scenic calfskin head that I offer and has been posted in here several times, there are some new designs from the show that I will share here.

The pin up

The Leopard

The B-25 Mitchell

I can also now offer calfskin bass drum heads with hand painted vintage logos. I have one other style of Leedy logo not pictured that I can also do. I will be adding more logos to the lineup as I am able to get my hands on them. I will be looking at adding modern logos in 2014.

And one unexpected sideline with the calf skin has been banjo repairs. I have replace heads on 7 banjos with calfskin heads this year.

Some of you may remember this drum, a WMF Ludwig that I had picked up locally. many people said to leave it alone because of the rarity of the badge and so I put it up for sale foe several months with no interest at all so I converted it.

I also had an old 28" Ludwig in need of some TLC
