From poppy79424

I had some pretty stressful moments in this restoration. But I am absolutly thrilled of the outcome, even if there is no market for rewrapped drums. I love this drum kit. Its my favorite now, above all 7 of my true vintage classic kits. It's fun Y'all!!!!

congratulations, it was perfect, I dream of the day that will be out the galaxy black finish to sell, to me do a job like yours kit , in a down beat kb that I have here of various colors ( 12 its red , 14 its blue and the 20 champagne with lots of extra holes) ...and a standart 5x14 ( white inside ) , its just waiting for the black galaxy... one day... one day ....

I understand that a standard shell and the coveted jazz festival shell are identical, with the exception of the lugs.

In the pic of me layin on the ground, I was actually taking a pic of the bottom of the statue pedestal I made out of a 20x20 bass drum. The statue weiighs about 200 lbs or so. I cut a 20" round 3/4" plywood, covered it with ozite carpet and installed 275lb capicity wheels on it. The wood fits just inside the bass drum hoop. I have a 20" 1/4" steel plate made, and had them weld the statue base to the plate and it sits on top of the drum. I did this yesterday. It turned out perfect!

The steel plate and the plywood both make contact with the shell. there are heads on it to hold the wood hoops in place. It is sooo cool. I can roll him around anywhere in the house. His Name is Junior's Grade.. I was going to use the 20 X 14" shell that came with my luddy standards, but I found this 20 x 20 DDRUM on craigs list and its a more perfect hight and color.
