There must be some swivo experts who have rebuilt these pedals

I've been putting off posting this in general. Your question prompted me to get off my keester and do it!

In regards to your pedal, are you referring to the pedals with the bronze bearings? If so, YES, they can be replaced with the B-68 bearing...either the Torrington or the Koyo. I've done this twice with pedals that came with bronze (oilite) bushings and one pedal that came with narrower J-65 needle bearings.

Note the pictures showing all 3 bearings. I didn't show a comparison of the bronze with the B-68, but the B-68 is the same physical size. The J-65 bearing has only 11 pins and is smaller in length, which you can see in the comparison.

Yes, the Koyo and Torrington B-68 are the same physical size. The big issue is that Torrington branded bearings have gone up in price considerably. I've never used the Koyo, but if I had to do this again, I'd give them a try, simply due to the less expensive price!

I might buy the post cbs pedal on ebay.

The seller gave me the option of either providing the unit with the Brass Bushings or a unit with the J-65.... I'm going to replace anyway with the B68..

Do you think it matters which one I request... I will match it against my 23 bearing pedal which is very smooth

I'd rather have the pedal with the J-65 bearings. Yes, it's only 11 pins, but will still be much smoother than the bronze bearings. I had a pedal with J-65 bearings and it performed very well...and smooth! I did eventually replace the J-65 with the B-68. I've heard some people say that some of these J-65 pedals may not accept the longer B-68. No issues with my pedal, but something to consider.

So, how is this done?

Those bearings mentioned already do fit, I've done it myself. I used a hammer and a flat screwdriver and tap gently until the copper bushing it out, rotate so it comes out evenly. Maybe not the best way but it worked for me.

Has anyone tried the Koyo bearings.
