Bunch of Slingerland shells Last viewed: 24 seconds ago

Well, only slightly doubting. I normally play 22" or 24" diameter.

But I think this one's 14" deep, since that's with most of the Elites I saw in the 1978 catalog. I mean, I know that's not really a good argument, but I'll go with that until the guy tells me the depth himself.

Those are some sweet Premiers, they even have the slotted rods. Grab them if you can, that 20 will be loud and proud enough for you. You might even like it better than a 22.

The bass drum in the pic looks like a 22.

10 lugs = 22?

You don't see many 20's with 10 lugs

I see your point... Didn't even think of that yet. But I haven't yet heard from the Premier guy (I only just realized this part of the forum should be about USA drums, and of course Premiers aren't).

The Slingerland guy, however, will get me some pics asap. He got these shells with another bassdrum and floortom, but they were already cracked, so he's not selling them, but it does mean extra parts. Apparently all hardware on the shells is there, including FT legs and BD spurs.

He says he also has a cob!!! Not sure whether he meant that it's included or not, but I'm certainly waiting for an answer from him about that.

But I'm really anxious for some pics, now. To see how much cleaning is required exactly and so on.

So, as you may understand, I am not 100% sure (anymore) which set I should go for :P. Waiting for pics :/

The slingerland will still cost me more in the end, though. All that wrapping :P. Some stands and mounts.

I hear ya Mr T.

The Premier is a nice looking kit. I'm not too keen on the wrap though.

(Just my opinion)

Definitely wait for the pics of the Slingerlands, who knows, could be a great score band3

Well, not a large update here, because there's "still" no pics. But I just have to tell:

The COB snare needs some cleaning and putting together (the parts are all there, though), but if I buy all the shells, the snare is included! (14"x6.5" btw)

I'm getting more excited about this every time that guy responds to my questions.

Sometimes I secretly wish the Premier guy doesn't respond, so that I won't have a hard time making a choice :P. Cause that one still is very tempting as well.

I think also the premier bass drum in the pic is a 22" it has 10 lugs on it 20" have 8 lugs, Here lets do the cost of the slingerlands and premiers, shells are 500-600 euros, the premiers are 1200 euros I think I have the prices right, anyway the Premier is a 7 piece kit, the slingerlands are just shells, now for the slingerlands parts wise you'll need to get for each shell, Lugs, tensions rods and washers, rims, mufflers,, bass drum really cost to rebuild, wood hoops, lugs, t-handles and rim claws, spurs, bass drum tom mount,, then the rewrap, then you've got to put heads on them. the premier is hands down the winner you may need new heds and you will be good to go! just making you think about the whole picture

Thanks vintagemore2000

Actually, the Premier is only 800 to 900 euro, if no one else starts bidding. If the man gets back to me some time soon.

The Slingerlands are a total of 500 euro, including the cob snare. I might try to sell the 2 duplicate toms again after cleaning them a bit. And all the t-rods, spurs, hoops, lugs, legs and so on are included (even some spare parts for ft and bd, probably).

That means there's "only" the wrapping costs, some mounts/stands and probably some heads. Still costs more than the Premier.

But if the wood looks really nice, I might just try staining instead (I hope I'm not insulting anyone :P). Although that's not necessarily to save money, but mainly because I quite like it on some woods.

Not at all ,I like stained wood kits myself, and you always want to try and save money.
