Here is a link to my kit. It isn't any color right now. Somebody (before I got them in 1988) removed the original gold sparkle wrap, filled the reso head holes with filler, and wrapped them black. (hence the reason I said they will never be worth anything)
They spray painted the one hoop, the other is from a slingerland. I have to inspect, maybe I can use those, not sure. I got the set and it didn't have a front head, I robbed this slingerland set I got for 50 bucks and used the claws, hoop and head from it.
This set has stayed this way and sounded ok for 99% of my life. I just joined a band and these weren't going to cut it, so I got a Sonor Phil Rudd shell pack. I changed the heads and they sound great. At least I thought they did until another forum told me they were ****ty because they weren't maple and (not the kit they have).
Back to the ludwigs, I originally was going to get the cheap wrap from ebay, but will be getting wrap from jammin sams, either gold sparkle or the citrus mod orange.
I am not going to be using a speedking, most likely a DW :) But not the old crappy one in the pictures. DO you know where that DW pedal Originated?
I am going to put the mount back on the Bass drum, but I usually used the mismatched stand bottom to actually hold the drums.
I am not going for a total restore, just a nice playable kit I can give my boy. I just picked up the snare for this set (67/68 Rogers Dynasonic) for 80 bucks.
