Anyone knowledgeable on Walberg & Auge?

I have 2 VERY old W and A drums....They have pre,1950's Gretsch Rocket lugs on them...

If you go to the For Sale section,I did list a 13" not all that long ago.

It has factory black paint inside.....At first,I thought someone painted them later, but I have heard of other drums with factory black paint.

I also have a W and A external BD muffler I will post a pic of..

I should have checked the threads.

I found out they were making parts for other companies, exact copies of Rails

but no Ludwig script.

Interesting.

On a personal note, I am the youngest daughter of RGB, Robert George Bernard. Yes, he was the craftsman that handmade the drum sets. His initials can be found inside each drum that he made.

He learned his craft from my grandfather, George Bernard, who made drums for Walberg & Auge before my dad did. His drums were always painted black on the inside.

It is wonderful to read the high praise regarding my dad's drums. I know he would be quite surprised to know that his drums are collectors' items.

Thanks to all of you for your wonderful comments. You've made my day!

I don't mind saying that this thread is nothing if not seriously heart-warming! Well done all!

Ms. RGB... your post is like a Christmas gift.

One of the things that gives me great satisfaction in bringing back a neglected drum... cleaning, shining, polishing, oiling... is knowing that the person(s) who built that drum took great pride in building a quality instrument... and it feels good to me to honor those craftsmen by valuing and caring for what they built.

Thanks for your post!

Not a Guru... just interested..
