I love that birch strip in bass drum hoops. Great, classy detail.John
Thanks, I will tell the wife, her idea to leave it natural. I wanted to stain it.
The wife wins! :D It's the contrast between the two woods that makes the detail pop and stand out. Good eye, Mrs. Jeff!

Mrs Jeff is beaming with pride now, I told her what you said. I'm sure she is thinking, hmm , Jeff better buy another kit to restore so I can make some more decisions. Ha ha!
Wife just said " those are too pretty, you can't sell them". You gotta love that!
I`ve had success rolling a badge on the bench under pressure to get it flat and the wrinkles out, then put it on a rag towel and roll it to curve on the shell and then install it.
I used a seam roller but a roller skate would work to.
1 st rate all the way !
Jeff I know it's not even an issue, but the pic of the finished glossy tom changed my mind on the "new exterior/old interior" deal - somehow they work perfectly together now. I think maybe what I was noticing was the satin exterior with the gloss[ish] interior, not the colours.
Regardless, it looks stunning and the kit is going to shine!

Oddball, thanks for the metalworking tips on the badge, it worked.
I don't want to wait for different badges so I will just use the ones I have.
Mitch, thanks for the kind words.
Got the snare drum done, looks pretty good. Should have it all done by the end of this weekend.
pro all the way jeff the best one yet....
