that looks like it could be a wfl 1121 hi hat stand. the do indeed have speed king written on the pedal. its a different setup than the bass pedla though. bottom board has two bends in the front part of the mount where the rest over the leg of the stand. if that is an 1121, it should have a rubber cup for the bottom hi hat. if that ones metal, someone has simply changed the center section i think..mike

Mike,with the right top tube section/foot board/clutch,thats a $100-150 hi hat,right?

yeah, i think so. every now and then, one will slip away for 75 or so. but it usually has issues and missing parts, especially the clutch. these are great stands. i played one for years. ringo played one before he went with the 1123 flatbase.

mike

ps-also just noticed that if it is an 1121, it is the very last design(60's) because it takes regular rubber tips on the legs as opposed to the round flat button feet.

Thanks everyone, I will keep you up on the restoration. Blair, thanks I will clean up the stand first and decide if it is worth adding the footboard.

Nice kit, for sure, & good price. Club Dates aren't goin' cheap any more, & neither are Jazz Fests. Mike's right--it's a late-model 1121, with a switched out top section--will still work fine.

One thing I'd add--those are champagne colored drums--if you order orange inlays, you'll be sorely disappointed. New champagne ones should match pretty good--that color doesn't change all that much over time; maybe gets a little lighter. Enjoy....marko

Those are champagne sparkle and the new wrap might not match as well. The old champagne sparkle tends to "brown" out over the years while the new stuff has a bit more of a pink look to it. It might end up looking fine since they are just inlays. You might be able to find some inlays on ebay as well. This should be a fun set to play. Here is my 2012 classic maple champagne set so you get an idea of what the new wrap looks like. Good luck!

While cleaning this snare I noticed about ten random black spots, is this where the sparkle has come off?

Hmmm, if those spots are -in- the wrap and not on top, it's just normal aging I'd guess. Sometimes the glue they used will interact with the wrap over time and you'll get darkening or spotting in the wrap. I wouldn't worry over it. It doesn't hurt the value and nobody standing more than 12" inches away will ever see it, or know it is there.

I copped this photo from Precision for you. It shows the difference between the old color and the new version. The newer stuff is darker/browner, but I don't think it'll make any difference because you're only using a couple of thin strips for the hoops.
