Now... that there is a thing which will completely change the overall look of the set up.

I know the original hoops would be black with matching inlays..... a great contrast with WMP (antiqued or not) and black. It was a great look. I don't know if I have ever seen a set with natural maple and inlays with WMP, maybe I have (will have to look at some gretsch club bop kits). I think if that is a look you would like, it will definitely be an eye catcher. It will be a bit of work to get the black out, perhaps too much since some of the black will be impossible to neatly remove or sand out at the inlay cut. What I did around 2000 with my Big R set was to replace the original 1.5" inlayed hoops with 2" 12ply natural maple hoops., without inlay. It made quite a difference in appearance.

I do think natural maple with WMP would look killer. (looked at some club jazz gretsch kits, it is indeed a killer look)

Thxs Jack...

Was thinking the Clear maple hoops with the powder white bass skin..

& the small 1960 version (Roger's) with the (Banner w. Initials)...

Would be classy as all heck..

Dropping these off at Seppo's Monday or Tuesday...to get completed..

He's about the best there is at refinishing, staining, wrapping etc..

I've done a few,,,but not gonna chance it with these...
