40's L&L 7x11 Tom

Rare size. So when I saw it in Pro Drum 2-3 years ago....I bought it.

Finally getting to it.

Stripped the black.

Under it was white or whitish gold. Under that grey primer..thick.

Inside needed to be stripped, I thought.

Was not original AFAIK. Came off much easier than the outer.

Seems like the wood was clear coated or oiled originally.

Under the white paint inside the shell, I found these ink stamps.

One, says "44" and the other "Sin. T" with what look like a stamp of nails going sideways through the bottom part of the T.

I am thinking ........year made 1944.

Do not know about Sin. T.

Great Name.

Right now, I have coated ambys for it.

Remo makes them stock.

I am not going to do a calf tack head on bottom.

Regular head and rim.

Is that what you make, calf?

Scott - Do you have a hoop and clips for the new bottom head? Sweet drum! I have a 7"x11" on Big Blue. Excellent high-toms. You should finish it to match one of your kits and use it.

John

PS - How's Jerry?

Too many great drums to list here!

I have a single flange brass rim for the bottom.

Bought a 12 and had a machinist cut it down to 11.

He made an overlapping notch in it and brazed it.

Why............got an extra 11" single flange lying around?

Doesn't everyone?

"These go to 11"

I have some clips. Been collecting them for awhile.

Some vintage/original, some new.

Anyone know what the stamps inside the shell are?

That is incredibly awesome. How'd the nickel hold up? Cool that it will have the two rims.

I wish I did, because then not only could I help you, but I'd probably know a bunch of other cool stuff too...

Sin t Math

Sin t is defined as the y-coordinate of the point P on the unit circle where t is the angle of the radius OP.

Your task is to find the angle that satisfies the equation

sin t = a when a is given

Paint is mostly gone. I highly recommend Citristrip from Home Depot.

Easiest stripper I have used. "wait...did I say that right?'

See pic of cut and brazed brass SF Rim,(it was a 12 or a 13 cut down, I think 13).

I tried but could not locate an 11" SF rim.

Also see pic of the original SF rim that came with the drum.

I have not cleaned or polished the nickel rim.

We wills see.
