Here is a couple "finished" photos. The weird brown looking portion of the top of the bass drum in some pics are just some bad reflection going on. Its virtually perfect! The first pic really captures the "blue/grey" that these retained. All I really had to do a glorified dusting. This is easily the best condition vintage drum set I have ever come across. Not a scratch to be seen other than a few very minor ones on the bd hoops. They have new batter heads on the snare/13/16 now and they sound SWEET! The bass drum has its original heads left intact because even the felt strip that was factory installed is still there! Original reso heads on the snare/13/16

Im lost for words. Its so rad.

If my 1963 SlingerLeedy Shelly Manne set were next to your Slingies, I wonder if my 20--13--16 set mated with your set would produce mutant offspring with 21" bass drums? You have every reason to love your new Slingy babies. They are an eleven on a one to ten scale for classy looks.

Cleaned up the 13/16/snare tonight. They look awesome and sound even better. New G2 Coated batter heads make these drums sing. The bass drum won't need any head attention...it already sounds killer with the original heads and one felt strip on the batter side!-Adam

No,those new heads should make them Sing,Sing,Sing!

Hey, Blair:

I didn't realize that you were old enough to be interested in the stuff that some of we old f@rts like. You are probably one of the few here that must know the song was written by, and first recorded by, the incomparable Louis Prima in 1936. Goodman and Krupa made it well known with the Fletcher Henderson arrangement for big band. I cheated a little by Googling Louis Prima and ths song title to get a few added details.

Louis PRIMA!!!

In my not so humble opinion, he was one of the keys to the development of Rock and Roll. Even his early stuff had that fire, waiting to be stoked. His band blasted music with such a fury and with such a style ... wow. Man, I could listen to his stuff most anytime. He had such a way with kicking fire into an arrangement ... and I don't mean swing. It was a no-holds barred approach to the song. Most historians wrote him off as just a wild man swing band ... but if you listen with an ear for Rock, you will hear it. It's there, solid, pumping, and with abandon. Love his stuff.

Check out these from about 1960 or so ...
