Vintage Slingies are the Rodney Dangerfield of drums. Only we few enlightened folks give them the love they deserve. I am a self-admitted and proud bottom feeder for vintage drums. I bought the pictured 1956 krupa set with clamshell snare for $200 because the owner wanted to get rid of "this old set to make room for my new extra deep Tama set that cost me $1200". As much as I loved this set, I traded it even up for this unusual Walberg & Auge set in a color I call Ice Blue Glass Glitter.
Both are beautiful kits! I love a great deal and that is what is part of the fun in buying old kits. Last night i missed a late 60's ludwig 24", 13", 16" in champagne plus what looked like a supraphonicsnare for $50!!! the hoops needed some love and it came with an additional 60's kit too. I saw the post minutes after the add was placed but i was in the middle of something and dragged my feet. Someone out there got the deal of the year.
