Well, here's the first one to go. I'll get this all ready and put it on eBay next week. If anyone here wants it before it goes to eBay, feel free to make me an offer. I'll have more detailed pictures and info later but for now, here's a couple pics.
You can read a little about how it was when I bought it and what I did to it here... http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=14963
I have a zillion hours of love and scrubbing into this set but it's definitely a players set and has had a lot of gigs in it's day. If this drum set could talk, I'll bet it would have some great stories.
I spit and polished this baby and she shines under the lights like Ginger Rogers in a sequin dress from those old 50's movies.
I'll do the whole spiel about how I restored it but, for now, most people here know what it takes to do this.
All 3 ply mahogany. Sound fantastic. I don't like Slingerland's rail consolette but this one is, at least working. I like to use a Ludwig center piece. It gets the tom up just a little higher and keeps it off the bass drum. I returned the original Slingerland rail to the drum. I think everything is original including the die cast hoops.
I'll do a complete writeup in HTML and post a link later this week. Meanwhile, if anyone has any questions, feel free.
Between my cost, new heads, ebay/Paypal fees and whatever else, I have about $699 into it. I'm planning to start the bidding at that. I'd love to hear your comments (good or bad) about that starting price.
If I can get that much back out of it and break even, I'll get to keep the snare for my effort /love /scrubbing /whatever. LOL
Here's a couple pics. Check out the picture of the badge. Look at the beautiful sparkle in this wrap. It was a silver sparkle and now it has patina'd to a fine and even Ginger Ale (or, as we say in the trade, it's faded. LOL) Color is very even throughout, though. Most people just think it's a gold sparkle. If you didn't pull a head or a lug off, you would think so, too.
