That's a rare gem of a snare! She's going to look great all cleaned up and polished!

Possibly a local arts college near you (one that has metalworking/casting courses) or a local artist or machine shop might be able to replicate the lugs (CnC?).

If you EVER decide to sell her PLEASE let me know!

Thanks JRichard, it certainly is a nice piece of kit. I will let you know if I decide to sell but I'm keen to have a go at making a good useable drum out of it, without modifying in an irreversible way of course.

The casting of a new lug may be possible although most the art type castings that friends have done have been done using pewter because it's easy to get and has a low melting point. Probably not strong enough for a lug though.

Andrew,I did check the lug's i was thinking about that you could used but the hole spacing will not work with the drum you have.But i do think i may have some 60's M.I.J. snare lugs with 2 3/4 hole spacing that would work.....Mikey

well I'm moving along on this now. Thanks to a top bloke in England who was also looking for the same lugs I now have a lug - 2 actually. He had a local man in a shed make a mould and cast these replacements which, to be honest, are much better than the original ones. They need finishing but so does the whole drum. The drum has been dismantled for cleaning which was a challenge due to the complex internals. I hope it goes back together againEye Ball

I hope you took pix while taking it apart or at least drawing out some sort of diagram for yourself. The new lugs look great! How long did it take to cast them?

lots of pics and an engineering friend to help. He was challenged as well. We'll get it back together though.

I'm not sure how long the casting took but at least there's a mould now.
