Slingerland Drums

I think what he's getting at is out of 78 threads, 51 are For Sale or Trade threads on kits that have moved through. No big deal.

That's exactly what I'm getting at.Bowing

I've gone though a few kits myself in the past five years, but those were drums I bought to restore to resell. Five kits in as many years, all bought to retore and resell. Did I play them at all? One or two yes, on open mike gigs, and guess what? It helped sell them! Snare drums......I've gone through maybe twenty in the past five years for the same reasons.

I have two go-to kits that will never leave my possesion, and a third that I recently picked up for small club gigs. 50/50 as to whether I keep that one or not. And as far as snare drums....I have three go-to ones for gigs, with a fourth one that will never get played out (too much sentimental value that I could never risk losing it on a gig!) and a fifth one that is just on display in my living room for the heck of it. (not much practical use for a 1920's marching snare now is there!)

My point is, I play all kinds of different genres of music, and I only use two kits! I change tuning, types of heads, etc to get the sound I want out of them for the particular type of gig in question.....maybe Johnnyringo should consider the same before trading/selling yet another kit.

They are his kits to do as he pleases. Isn't the recurring theme in his posts the WMP that he's been searching for?

Yes it is Fathertime, thank you for being the only one that actually reads the original post.

All of my drums sounded good, that's not the issue, I'm not in search of the sound

as much as the look.

I play vintage drums because I know that's the sound I prefer, I've had newer

drums with the 10,12,14,20 configuration and I love the sound and feel to them,

but they are a dime a dozen, nothing special. I want the vintage sound with

the wmp finish, it's that simple.

Unfortunately I don't have the room or money for more than one kit.

Thank you all for your opinions, but after all, they are my drums and if

I choose to sell, trade, or give them away should be my business and not concern you.

Well....if WMP is what you are searching for, why then do you keep buying kits NOT finished in that finish? Why not just WAIT for that kit to come along? DOH

I told you, I have to sell a kit to buy another, but I also need a kit to gig with.

So, I found a buyer for the Rogers, rather than wait and maybe not make a sale, I sold them.

There were no wmp kits available so I bought the blue sparkle Slingerland. I'm very happy

with the sound of this kit and that's why I was considering recovering it and being done

with my search. Now, there is an opportunity to buy a wmp kit in Houston, but I would need

to sell my Slingerland. If I can't sell it soon, I'll just go to my original plan and have them recovered.

This is what I was getting at....the kit you want will come to you if you wait for it. WMP is NOT rare by any means, as is shown by your finding one so quickly. Why not just trade the Slingerlands on the WMP kit in question....why is everything I gotta sell this kit quickly or....? This I also don't understand.....seems you always leap before you look judging by the number of for sale/trade posts you have posted here on the forum.....unless something more underlying is at work there....Lame

I won't get as much on trade....I'm getting a little tired of these little enuendo's that I may be up to something.

No inuendo...I'm calling it like I see it. Sure sounds like something illegal has been going on with getting a kit, posting it, and then having to get rid of it quickly.....think about it before you get all angry and defensive. Look at it from that perspective, from the outside in. Sure looks like something fishy is going on....

Yeah, you got me, I'm stealing drums from guys off craiglist and then reselling them. Don't get defensive? How am I suppose to react when you're calling me a thief? This is how you get a bad reputation, from people like you and the clown spreading rumours with no facts. Screw you.
