My fellow drummers and vintage drum collectors. I 've noticed a few things since I've been on this forum. Let me first say that I am a drummer, I play in a band, I sweat and use every ounce of energy through the course of a four hour gig and that's not including set up and tear down. I buy or trade for drums to play them and not just in my garage. My observation here is that many of you are what I call stay home drummers, you play for yourself and find more meaning in your last drum find. You claim to be vintage drum enthusiast, but when I list beautiful vintage drums for trade or sale I get absolutely no response, but the minute I put up a bogus DW kit you're crawling out of the woodwork. That's fine, but don't claim that nothing else is good unless it's vintage. I see a lot of beautiful kits here, but what I don't see is those beautiful kits being played. I wonder if all the vintage drums I see here are just for show and a lot of you guys are secretly playing Pearl Exports or hoping to trade for that DW kit you've been drooling over, but don't want to actually buy. What's up with you guys? Really, if you're going to own a piece of history, do something with it.

Wow, J.R after reading this post it sounds like you don't like this Forum maybe it's time to move on to another one?..Myself Yes i'am a Professional Muician for 35 years.Yes ia'm a vintage drum collecter,Yes ia'm a vintage dealer...And Yes i play all the vintage drum set's and snare's i have not going to say how many but the number is up pass 100...But you know when to comes to Rogers Drums The Ploughman know's Them you should listin to him....Just my :2Cents:....Mikey

Yikes, so, from the posts, Johnny Ringo is mad that he didn't get $1500 for a mixed factory Rogers set and a forum member doesn't like the song My Sharona. Got it. Moving on...

From The Ploughman

Then you dont have a cleveland floor tom and bass drum. You have THREE fullerton drums. Plus, the only possible way the WRAP could match if these drums are of the SAME Era. Either Cleveland Dayton or Fullerton by itself. Not a mix. The later Dayton era, and Fullerton era sparkle wrap is different than the Cleveland, early Dayton era wrap. And the bass drum has been hacked on. And a drum is missing. Its still not worth a grand. Not in this economy, and probably not in a high market either. You could have avoided all this trouble by adequately describing and researching your stuff to begin with. Instead, you...... on your own...... have made a crapload of enemies. For sale prices and sold prices often dont reflect identical amounts.

Well, after a more thorough inspection of the kit here's what I found....

8x12 tom, speckled grey interior, no city named, 1st photo

16x16 floor tom, speckled grey interior Cleveland badge, 2nd photo

14x20 kick, flat grey interior Cleveland badge, 3rd photo

BTW the two tom mount plates are identical inside the drum, both are Rogers parts.

I never listed it for $1,500, I said $1,000 shipped. I was mainly looking to trade for a wmp or any 3ply Ludwig kit. I don't even care if it was all original, or if it's in the greatest condition. I just wanted a decent 3ply Ludwig kit in a 13,16,22, I never said anything about colletors quality, that was just assumed by the Ploughman.

First picture is a 9/72 Fullerton tag. The 9/72 stands for September, 1972.

Second picture, the paint does not reflect a Cleveland drum. But, there are exceptions with Rogers. (didn't want to waste a tag, putting older tags on newer drums, ect)

Third picture, the paint would be a Cleveland or a transition Dayton drum. I have Dayton drums with the Cleveland paint.

The strange part, the Cleveland/Dayton drums were all made at the same place, it was only stored at different places.

The drum with the Cleveland tag was probably a speckled Dayton that they just used a older tag on.......

Roger's wasn't one to waste a good 25 cent tag!

Well, this is all too confusing and pointless as far as I'm concerned. I don't care which city each drum may or may not have been made in or if older tags were put on newer drums. All I know is, I have a beautiful American made Rogers kit that looks and sounds fantastic. That's good enough for me.
