My fellow drummers and vintage drum collectors. I 've noticed a few things since I've been on this forum. Let me first say that I am a drummer, I play in a band, I sweat and use every ounce of energy through the course of a four hour gig and that's not including set up and tear down. I buy or trade for drums to play them and not just in my garage.
My observation here is that many of you are what I call stay home drummers, you play for yourself and find more meaning in your last drum find.
You claim to be vintage drum enthusiast, but when I list beautiful vintage drums for trade or sale I get absolutely no response, but the minute I put up a bogus DW kit you're crawling out of the woodwork. That's fine, but don't claim that nothing else is good unless it's vintage.
I see a lot of beautiful kits here, but what I don't see is those beautiful kits being played. I wonder if all the vintage drums I see here are just for show and a lot of you guys are secretly playing Pearl Exports or hoping to trade for that DW kit you've been drooling over, but don't want to actually buy.
What's up with you guys? Really, if you're going to own a piece of history, do something with it.
