I have to agree, you can probably get close to your asking price if the set was well presented.
Kelly is not the seller~he is the potential buyer. I still don't see how you guys arrive at your willingness to pay this much for thick mahogany shells when looking carefully and closely at CraigsList for a month will reveal at least one opportunity to pick up a Slingerland or Rogers for this kind of money. Star is one of my favorites, but that is too much to pay for a cool wrap on otherwise non-descript shells in my opinion. I love them, but no way will I pay this kind of money for them. I have seen far too many American kits go in this range to ever part with 500 for a standard issue MIJ. If, on the other hand, the shells have been worked by someone that knows what they are doing, mounted new heads and there are good cymbals and original stands included, that is another story.
What are the chances you will run across this scenario, short of a kit one of us has worked and owned?
