Strangest strainer....

I have a very similar strainer which may be the Rogers Clockface you mentioned jonnistix but on mine ,the cast block on the front goes straight up and down and the throwoff lever slides in a groove from 8:30----10:30 working a claw that goes in behind everything else. It has an odd feature, in that the lever locks against the throwoff body,by screwing it in and it weighs 3/4 of a lb. That plus the fact that the lever is 2 3/8" long makes me think it was from a marching snare. Perhaps the one in your photo came from a MIJ marching snare? Can you tell if was an original ?

Thanks, yes, it does work that way. It is original to this snare, judging by the fade pattern on the wrap. As for the throw arm "latching", I don't see any ledges or areas that would make this look like the type you describe as "latching into place". This is a very simplistic design, and very functional....if the arm were there.

It looks a lot like my Rogers R360 snare strainer but slighty off. Mine does have "Rogers" across the bar (Rogers Bantam #393 strainer ?) but since it was probably MIJ by Yamaha, they may have made a knock off, no name strainer for other Japan drums? Just thinking out loud here..........
