G'day everyone.

After reading (and very much enjoying) the varied and informative posts on this forum over the last few months, I decided to join.

I'm semiprofessional drummer from Melbourne, Australia - I have some musical training, mostly in piano, but have been playing drums for over 20 years. I mostly play rock and blues - mostly as there's not much rehearsal required once you've been playing those types for a while. Since the beginning of 2010, I've been attempting to play jazzier drums and have been encouraged by the response of other musicians - I have been listening to jazz for over 20 years. As for vintage drums, the first one drum I had was a marine pearl finish (or similar) John Grey Autocrat snare - sold that many years ago. I currently have a non COB 1963 Ludwig Supraphonic and a 60's metal Rogers Super Ten - I think my interest in vintage drums is likely to remain in the snare department due to space (and money) restrictions. Just got a Slingerland 60's snare missing the badge and strainer, which I hope to use this great forum to help restore, as Australia is not too good at having parts for these types of drums. I hope to chat with some of you soon and wish you the best in your musical endeavours.

Just signed up! Been doing vintage drums for a loooooooong time. Mostly Slingerland. It's kind of tough doing any vintage collecting here in Hawaii as there is not much vintage stuff around. I did find some gems at the local high schools a few years back. Now I get most of my stuff off ebay but I hope to connect with some of you folks for some of my future purchases.

Here is a list of some of my kits, snares and other stuff:

Early 60's WMP Slingerland 9X13, 16X16, 16X18, 14X22, 1956 Student Model RK.

Early 70's Walnut Slingerland 8X12, 14X14, 16X16, 14X22, 1955 4.5X13 tube lug Junior snare. This is my "Mini Krupa" kit. Also have matching 9X13 and 14X20. The 12, 14, 20 was my fist kit that my parents bought me when I was 12. Almost 40 years ago!

Late 70's Maple Slingerland 6,8,10, concert toms, 8X12, 9X13, 10X14, 16X16, 16X18, 2 14X22, COB Krupa & COW Rich snares.

Working on a 70's Maple Slingerland 8X12, 15X15, 16X18, 14X22, "nesting" kit with 1960 Student Model RK.

1947 Student Model RK, 1965 WMP Shelbyville, 1964 WMP Deluxe Student, 1969 Maple Deluxe Student, 1965 WMP Artist.

1940's Ludwig 4X15 Mahogany snare, Ludwig Club Date kit.

1980's Gretsch concert tom kit and snare.

At least 50 Zildjians, 8 nice Paiste Signatures, and now mostly collecting Bosphorus with 2 dozen in my collection so far.

Not to mention a few "modern" kits, a pair of tympani, Jenco vibraphone, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember right now!

I look forward to getting to know you all better and to be able to contribute to this great forum!!

Aloha!!

Eric Jaeger

OK, I'll start another thread. But which forum would be best to use to post the pics?
