The Big Four

Not the best examples. Neither sounded good in that setting. Both were lost.

I think you need to get the wax out of your ears, I can hear the drums fine, especially on the first video.

So, insult me? What the heck? If we don't agree with you we get slammed? Ok. Just got to know the rules.

We are wrong. You are right. All Slingerlands sound the same irregardless of the varied bearing edges they used throughout the years. No Slingerland could ever sound better than a Rogers. And when it comes to live footage, you are the first and last word on sound quality.

Is that about it?

I think you need to go restore another kit, you do that very well.

What? I was paying you a compliment. Look, I have my opinions on drums I've used and I have found that Slingerland, although nice sounding drums, don't perform as well as Ludwig and Rogers in live situations. I'm talking about the 3ply shells with the rounder bearing edges, for whatever reason they don't project, or have as good a tone as the other two. Plus the hardware on the Slingy's are lower quality, especially the floor tom and kick leg mounts.

I just would like to say that out of the four videos,I like the Slingerlands followed by the Gretsch drums. As to all things we have opinions and this is mine. Slingerland to me just has the classic drum sound I found in my head. It reminds me of the big band and swing sound. When I started collecting drums this was what I wanted and Slingerland delivers. I think Ludwig represents the 60's rock sound that's in my head. I like collecting Slingerlands also because they seem a bit harder to find unlike the billion Ludwig kits available.( comment not intended to offend nor disturb anyone, just my opinion)

There is no one company to hail as the ultimate winner, rather it is the ones which we personally feel are best. To each thier own.

Don't get bent out of shape, but the tensioning of those kits is not all that great. I'm not insulting you. We all have our way of tensioning drum heads. Some go tight and some go medium and some go loose. You went with both and all three.

I like the Slingerland kit the best. I also like the small tom on the Ludwig kit. The rest of them are pretty good. I think they might sound better if you worked on the tensioning and recorded them again. I have a feeling you don't own them anymore.

I have been selling vintage drums around the world for over 20 years, and what I have heard the most is........

"I have had Yamahahaha RC's/Tama Artstars/Pearl this, etc etc,and the Gretsch sound the best!

So,after hearing that so many times over the years,I tend to believe it.....

But,I personally like Rogers a lot also........

I'm not sure what you mean, all the drums are tuned with the bottom head a bit tighter than the top. All of them had coated ambassadors on the toms. The Rogers kick had an Aquarian super kick, the Ludwig had a Remo coated powerstroke and the Slingy and Gretsch had coated ambassadors.
