Thanks, I'm especially partial towards the Rogers and Ludwigs.

My vote is for the slingy's and the ludwigs. I surprisingly wasn't thrilled

with the rogers..

Wow, that's tough one. I liked all of them! If I had to pick an order it'd be...darn ....I just can't.

This was kind of neat to watch and listen to back to back.

Myself, I think I'd go:

1) Ludwig

2) Slingerland and Gretsch

3) Rogers

As I'm new to VDF, I can see I'm going to be spending more and more time on here and less and less time doing, well, anything else.

In these recordings (meaning the bias of the recorder, the heads used, the tuning, and the room...), I dug the Slingerland most, followed by the Gretsch, followed by the Ludwig. The Rogers sounded too much like modern drums to like them.

1970 Ludwig Downbeat
1965 Ludwig Hollywood
1970 Ludwig Jazzette

Well, that goes to show you how ahead of the game Rogers was. I'm not sure what you guys hear in the Slingerlands that make you like them, but believe me, the Rogers out performed all of them in live situations. The Slingerlands especially were very dry and thuddy, not much tone over electric guitars. You should watch the video made at Steve Maxwell's drum shop about the construction and sound of each brand, he talks very highly of Gretsch and Rogers.
