Yes, but quite yellowed. I hope to set it up and play it tomorrow. I'll post it.

The snares are beat up. Narrow snare bed.

Cool! I have two of these old MIJ COS snares and they have a great range. My pride and joy has an even better setup now. If you have one, try a Remo Fyberskin 3A on it. That will mellow the tone and make it simply amazing. If it is a COB, then you certainly have a rare bird indeed.

Not sure about COB, but... I have a Remo Skyntone right in front of me on a Craviooto. Maybe I'll put that on, change the snares and see what happens. First, though, I'll set it up and record it on the Zoom Q3 tomorrow and post it, as is.

Your Crown snare was made sometime in the very late 60's--1969 to 1972 with that sticker badge, shell should be steel over chrome not brass over chrome..Lug's are copy's of slingerland rim's are to. but the strainer was a very short used one i hate to say they are junk and are very hard to fine a replacement one i do not even have one..Sometime in about 1970 late Crown stoped useing that strainer so this would date your drum from the years 1969 to 1970.Crown change out the strainer after 1971...Mikey

It has to be earlier then that, since I got it at the latest in '67 when I lived in Freehold, NJ. and it was used then. We moved in '68, so I had it for a while.

Although the rims are similar to Slingerland, I actually like them better,so far. We'll see when I play it.

Here's a sound sample of the Crown snare drum. The parts are somewhat siezed, so I have the snares quite tight until the lube works and I can work on it.

It sounds as I expected. The rims are fun to play on. The snare gizmo seems totally impracticle, but yet unique.

Recorded with the Zoom Q3, not the studio sound.

Also, a sample of my L&L duco. What a drum. Full bodied and warm. This was just a quick tuning. I think the Renn. head sounds good on it, though.

First time I've played either in years or decades!
